ALLEGED BRUTAL ASSAULT.

A young woman living at Marton,. while returning from a visit to friends, is reported to have been brutally assaulted near Kaka, riki Bridge,, yesterday. She was knocked and kicked about in a coldblooded manner by a man believed.to.' be a native. She was rendered, unconscious, and afterwards found wandering about a paddock in a dazed condition. Her face is so much swollen that she will be unable to. see for some time. She has little' recollection of what occurred. The police are making enquiries.
