GARRY OWEN HOCKEY CLUB SOCIAL.
The second annual social of th? Garry Owen Hockey Club was held in the Foresters' Hall, last evening, and proved to be one of the most successful gatherings of the kind held this season. There were about 100 couples present and the dancing, which proved enjoyable, was kept up until an early hour this morning. The decorations were carried out on, a very elaborate scale. The ordinary supper room was kid out in drawing room style, elegantly furnished, and decorated with evergreens. * The room at the rear of the hall was converted into a sapper room, and was connected with the main hall by a spacious marquee. An excellent supper was provided by a strong ladies' committee, consisting of members of the club, who were also responsible in many other ways for the success of the gathering. The music was supplied by an orchestra consisting of Mr F. McKenzie (niano) and Mr B. Simpson (cornet), and Messrs H. Richards. W. Spring and J. Bradbury carried out the duties of M's.C. Extras were played by Misses N. O'Leary and L. O'Malley and Messrs N. McEwen, and H. Cole.
During the evening the Rev, Dean McKenna presented the trophies won during the season to the successful members. In doing so he complimented the members upon the success of their annual re-union. The medals were presented as follow: —■ Best back, Miss M. Collins; best forward, Miss K. O'Leary; most improved player, Miss R. Chapman; member most regular in attendance at practice, Miss K. O'Leary. A word of praise is due to the secretaries, Misses M. Stempa and M. Hourigan, who worked untiringly to ensure the success of the function.
