Canterbury defeated Southland by 14 points to 3. Deans (2), Mahoney and Shannon scored tries for Canterburv. one of which was converted. Stead scored a. try for Southland. TARANAKI v. MANAWATU. Bv Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N., August 28. The Taranaki v. Manawatu representative football match was played here to-day. For the first twenty minutes of the game Manawatu were almost constantly attacking, but after that they were not "in the hunt," Taranaki getting all over them. Hunter ana Cameron were particularly brilliant among the visiting backs. The final scores were • Taranaki 27, Manawatu 6.
An Auckland Press Association telegram states that in the Brown .Shield (Association) Competition, to-day, Wellington defeated Taranaki by six goals to one. The final of the competition will be played, on Saturday, between Auckland and Wellington.
