The manager of the mine contends, that there is no gas in the mine, and therefore no danger,, but the men argue that there is a danger of the cutting machines striking a blower of gas at any moment. • The trouble threatens to spread to other mines and cause dislocation in the coal trade. THE SECESSION MOVEMENT. Received August |29, 12.47 a.m. BRISBANE, August 28. In the Legislative Assembly, Mr Plunkett tabled a " motion in favour of Queensland seceding from the Federation.
