The Sweated Industries Exhibition was opened in the Wellington Town Hall, this afternoon, by the Mayor, and the exhibits were subsequently inspected by large numbers of people. A BOUGH TRIP. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, August 26. The steamer Victoria, which arrived from Sydney last night, met with a mountainous sea all the way. A large quantity of water was shipped, but no damage was done. POLICE RAID AT CHRISTCHURCH. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, August 26. The police raided premises in Manchester Street, on Sunday, and arrested the proprietor, Michael Hislop, on a charge of keeping a slyg"og shop and a place frequented by thieves. Another man, named Graham, was arrested on a charge of consorting with thieves. A quantity of liquor was seized. Several residents of the city were found on the premises, and their names were taken.
INFLUENZA EPIDEMIC AT NELSON. By Telegraph-Press Association. NELSON, August 26. The mild influenza epidemic which has attacked some thousands in the city and district is now abating.
