By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, August 21. H. E. Mehrtens, winner of last year's Warrnambool to Melbourne Road Race, and who has been disqualified by the League of New Zealand Wheelmen till February, applied to-night to have his disqualification removed in order that he might defend his title as road champion of Australasia at the forthcoming race. The Council of the League refused the application. A sub-committee was appointed to select the accredited New Zealand representatives for the race.

The Council also .resolved to invite the centres to make application for the coming season's championship races.
