MASTERTON TRUST LANDS TRUST.
ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trustees, last evening, was attended by Messrs T. B. Michell (chairman), T. Wagg, D. Caselberg, E. G. Eton, J. Hessey, W. H. Jackson, E. McEwen, and R. Krahagen. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £149 12s 6d. Letters were received from the secretaries of the Masterton Technical School and Wellington Education Board thanking the Trustees for grants to the new Masterton Technical School and the Masterton District High School, respectively. Misses R. Messenger and F. Kay also wrote thanking the Trustees for grants for the purpose of assisting them in their education. Mr Hugh Jackson wrote offering to lease part of sections 27 and 29 in Bannister Street, and asking for the term of leasing other sections. •As the sections are at present held under a weekly tenancy, . it was decided to inform the tenant of the offer of Mr Jackson before taking any action. The Te Ore Ore School Committee and the Masterton Municipal Fire Brigade made application for their usual grants. It was decided to give the School Committee its usual grant, and to give the Fire Brigade the sum Of £lO. A letter from Mr E. J. Chilton, offering to paint and decorate the proscenium of the Town Hall, was held over until the special meeting which is to be held to consider improvements to the Town Hall generally. The Under-Secretary of Justice wrote with regard to the exchange of sites, stating that the Minister of Justice was quite prepared to meet the Trustees and would be pleased to favourably consider any proposal that might be made for the payment of the £I,OOO. Accounts amounting to £llO 14s 5d were passed for payment.
