Potatoes, seed, Australian/ Up-to-Dates, Early Rose, Beauty of Hebron, Vermonts, Ashleaf, Kidneys, £7. Onions £6 per ton. Butter, separator 9d, ' milled BJd, dairy pats Bd. Eggs, fresh, Is 3d per dozen. Honey, 60's, 4d per lb. Beeswax Is 6d per lb, good demand. Fungm 4|d per lb. Walnuts 5d per lb. Porkers, 70's to 90's sd, 90's to 100's 4|d, good demand; I Cabbage 7s 6d tc 12s 6d per sack, very good demand. Cauliflower 10s to 15s per sack, very good demand. Marrows 6s 6d per sack. Pumpkins 4s per sack. Carrots table 5s 6d per sack, scarce. Carrots, horse, £2 per ton. Apples, desert, 8s 6d to 10s very scarce. Apples, cookers, 7s 6d to 8s 6d Der case. Pears, dessert, 12s 6d par" case. Pears, cookers, 10s per case. Cocksfoot 5d to 6d per lb. Ryegrass 5s Gd per bushel. Poultry —Table roosters 4s 6d, cockerels 5s to 5s 6d, table to 4s 6d, ducks 6s to 7s, geese 6s 6d, all at per pair. Turkey gobblers 9£d, hens B*d, live weight. Dressed poultry—Roosters 7Jd, hens 5d to 6d, turkey gobblers lOd, hens Bd.
GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORT. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their fortnightly sals of grain, etc., on Tuesday, August 13th. A fairly representative catalogue was submitted, consisting of oats, maize, potatoes, chaff, etc. Bidding was somewhat backward, but most of the lines offered were qu'tted either at auction or privately. Values ruling are as under: — Oats:—The market is quiet, with little business passing. Seed lines are in good demand for small lots. Prime feed oats have a limited in quiry, while discoloured lines for i crushing are occasionally asked for. j We quote:—Seed lines, 3s Gd to 3s i lOd; prime feed, Cs 3d to 3s sd; medium feed and discoloured 3s to 3s 2d per bushel (sacks extra). j Wheat—There is no change as regards values in this market. Fowl wheat is asked for, but buyers will only purchase limited quantities at : the high rates now ruling. We quote: Best wnole fowl wheat, 4s 6d to 4s 9d; medium, 4s 3d to4ssd; broken and damaged, 4s to 4s 2cl per bushel (sacks extra). Maize.—Several consignments of tustralian maize have recently come Ihand and met with a fair market, s prices asked were considerably under Auckland quotations. We quote: Best Auckland maize, 3s 10dto4s; . best Australian maize, 3s 6d to 3s 9d; medium ditto 3s to 3s 4d per bushel (sacks extra). " Potatoes. —The arrival of Australian and Tasmanian potatoes during the past week have been exceptionally heavy with the result that supplies have exceeded the demand, and to quit consignments lower rates had to be accepted We quote: Seed lines, £6 to £7; prize table potatoes, £4 lOs to £5; others. £3 to £4 per ton (bags in.) Chaff—Prime, bright, well-cut, oaten chaff is good demand, and the market is firm. Discoloured chaff, however, has little inquiry. Strawchaff is asked for and is selling at satisfactory prices. We quote: Prime oaten sheaf £5 5s to £5 7s 6d; extra to £5 10s; medium and discoloured, £4 10s to £5; straw chaff, £3 to £3 10s per ton (bags extra). Straw. —A good inquiry for bailed strow at from 50s to 52s 6d per ton.
