WELLINGTON, August At the Supreme Court William Henry Oakenfull, who had pleaded guilty to receiving stolen money, was admitted to probation for two years. George Ferris, alias John Anderson, John Byron Hamilton and William Robert Sinclair, alias Conolly, were convicted of breaking into Laery and Co. 's store and stealing £4l. They were deferred for sentences. Other charges against the prisoners have yet to be heard.

CHRISTCHURCH, August 15,
At the Supreme Court, to-day, William Kirk was convicted of assaulting a constable, and sentenced to two years' imprisonment. Arthur Wellesley Nelson, the young man who left a letter on the Sumner Cliffs,- a few weeks ago, stating that he intended to commit suicide, but of whom no trace has since been found by the police, was called, this afternoon, to answer an indictment that he had sold drugs for an illegal purpose. He did not appear, and the two recognisances of £SO each were estreated.
