WORKS COMMITTEE'S RECOMMENDATIONS. The estimates of the cost of the various works to be carried out by the Masteiton Borough Council during the present financial year were framed at the meeting of the Masterton Borough Works Committee, on Tuesday evening, and will come up for adoption at the meeting of the Council on Tuesday evening next. The items, which total £7,899 10s, are as follows:—Street maintenance, £2,000.; stLeet lighting, gas, £200; new lamps, £120; mantles and glasses,.£6o; labour, £120; scavenging, £3&0; stables upkeep, £400; drainage upkeep, £600; half share new culvert, Pownall Street, £130; new culvert in Renall Street, £300; new cuhvyt in Montgomery's.
