CARTERTON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Wednesday. Amongst the passengers who left Carterton by the early train this morning were Mr and Mrs Andrews and the two Misses Andrews,-who have taken up their residence in Wellington. While on a visit at Ahforuhe, this afternoon, I was informed that the rain on the flats in that district this yaar had been more incessant than on previous years. However, the pastures are looking well, and the stock thereon present a healthy appearance. A mean theft was perpetrated at the business premises of Mr T. H. Hughes, last evening. Two cr .three articles, amongst whirih was a silver teapot, had been purchased by a committee of ladies in the afternoon for the purpose of a presentation the same evening. The teapot had been left n a dining-room at Mr Hughes' establishment, and while the room was unoccupied for a few moments the teapot was stolen by some person or persons at present unknown. On the loss being discovered the matter was immediately placed in the hands of the yfLi™ who are making investigaA wedding which created more than usual interest took place at St. Mark's Anglican Church tc-day, when Mr W. Howard Booth, son of the late Rev. Wm. Booth, was united in the holy bonds of mairimony to Miss Cassie Mac Gown, daughter of the late Mr M. MacGown, of Carterton. A. number of lady friends of the bride and bridegroom had been busy at work in the forenoon decorating the Church, which presented a very animated appearance. The Church was crowd- ( ed, and the Rev. R. Young (Vicar) was tha officiating clergyman. After the ceremony a large number of guests were entertained and the usual toast list honoured.
