COOK'S PICTURES.

"Cook's Pictures" made their reappearance in Masterton, last evening, when a season of two nights was opened in the Town Hall, before a large audience. The films shown were very clear, and compared favourably with any yet seen by a Masterton audience. The pictures covered a variety of subjects, instructive and humourous, and calculated to suit all tastes. The film in which most interest seemed to be taken was that depicting the football match between New Zealand and Australia, played on the Sydney Cricket Ground. In this some of the New Zealand players were recognisable, and a fair idea was given of the nature of the game. A rather instructive picture was that entitled "Scenes on a Swan Farm in Dorset," in which swans were shown in their various stages of growth, and incidents connected with their culture. "Barnum's Trunk" was a clever illusion picture. Among the humourous films was "How Father Brought Home the Christmas Goose," which provoked screams of laughter; "The Tramp," the effect of which was heightened by the tinting; "'The Hundred Dollar Mote," in which was humourously set forth the ' trouble connected with the handling of a spurious note; and "The Servants' Strike," which was. a picture out of the ordinary in its class. The other films included "The Magic Fan," "A Naval Encounter," and "Street Dancing in London," all of which were of a highly interesting nature. During the evening Mr G. BagotStack, a vocalist, rendered "Bright Eyes, Good Bye," and "'Ain't You Coming Back to Old New Hampshire, Molly," very nicely. The Company will conclude its season this evening, when a complete change of programme with the exception of the "All Blacks" picture, is promised.
