THE PROPOSED DUTY ON IRON PIPES.

By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, August 12. The Legislative Committee of the Municipal Association met, to-day, and it was decided to ask the Government to retain the former duties on iron and fibre pipes; that Municipal Corporations engaged in such undertakings as tramways, gasworks, lighting, etc., be enabled to keep separate banking accounts in connection therewith; and plant, material and machinery required by Corporations for gas, electric light and water supplies, should be admitted free of duty in cases where they cannot be made within the colony.
