MASTERTON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
GENERAL COMMITTEE. The first meeting of the new'yelected General Committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday. The President (Mr J. D. Cruickshank) occupied the chair, and there were also present— Messrs W. Perrv, D. McGregor, T. P. Lett, J. C. McKillop, E. E. Chamberlain, R. J. Dagg, F. C. Lewis, R. Gray, J. Strang, W. Cooper, R. Johnstone, J. Morris, D. Caselberg, J. P. Perry, G. C. Summerell, W. D. Watson, W. H. Buick, E. Harper, G. Shaw, J. B. Moodie, and A. J. Percy. An apology for absence was received from Mr W. McKenzie. A letter was received from Mr W. Kemp suggesting the desirability of the Association affiliating with the Royal Horticultural Society. The matter was referred to the Horticultural Committee for further consideration. An application from Mr L. Daniell for a refund of the amount charged for the showgrounds on the occasion of the football match between the firms of Messrs Lett Bros, and Mr C. E. Daniell, was granted, as the proceeds from the match were to be given to Mr J. K. Blinkhorne. An application from the management of the "Laughing Gallery'*' side-show (Wellington), for space on the grounds at the next show, was referred to the Ground Committee.
Mr G. A. Tabuteau wrote, on behalf of Mr J. L. Murray, in connection with the Association making arrangements for suitable offices in a new building which Mr Murray proposed to build. It was decided to reply that the Association already had offices and regretted that they could not do anything in connection with the application. . Messrs R. Gray, W. Perry, J. Morns, "W. McKenzie, B.- Rayner, D. Watson and C. E. Daniell were elected a Ground Committee. It was resolved to hold the annual horse parade on the usual date, viz., the third Saturday in September. The committee decided to hold a special meeting on Saturday next to draft the programme for the next show. The following additional district representative? were elected: —West Coast, Mr Fred. Moore; Wellington, Mr A. E. Pearce; Hawke's Bay, ;Mr' Paul Hunter; Palmerston North, Mr S. R. Lancaster.
The following committees were appointed:—Finance, Messrs 0. C. Cooper, G. C. Summerell, J. B. Moodie, D. Caselberg, and officers ex officio; Horticultural, Messrs G. |C. Summerell and J. C. Alpass; Rules 1 Revision, Messrs Summerell, W. Perry, F. C. Lewis and R. Gray; Luncheon, Messrs F. C. Lewis, D. Caselberg, T. P. Lett, J. Morris and J. C. McKillop; Paddocking, Messrs G. Shaw, A. J. Percy, J. C. McKillop and W. H. Buick; Printing, Messrs G. C. Summerell and F. C. Lewis; Horse Parade, Messrs F. C. Lewis, R. Johnstone, R. Gray, K. J. Dagg; Ram Fair, Messrs F. C. Lewis, W. D. Watson, and E. Harper. Messrs A. Henderson and W. McKenzie were elected members of the Association. The resignations of Messrs C. Forsberg, R. P. Abraham, W. C. Coulter and H. E. Nickless were accepted. Messrs W. Perry and D. McGregor, junr., submitted a brief resume of the business transacted at the recent Agricultural Conference, and were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
