Received August 8, 10.36 a.m. ADELAIDE, August 8. At lacrosse the Canadians defeated South Australia by seven goals to three. The local players, in order to more effectively charge the visitors, wore jockeys' steel caps and were padded from the shoulders to the finger tips.

GRAND NATIONAL STEEPLECHASE.

Received August 9, 12.43 a.m. MELBOURNE, August 8. Mayo was scratched for the Steeplechase. He sustained serious injury in the final gallop to-day.
