MAURICEVILLE.
* (Prom Our Own Correspondent.) The local Minstrels gave an entertainment in the new Hall on Friday. The programme - submitted was an excellent one, and the items were warmly applauded. A ball was held after the entertainment. Mr C. Brooks carried out the duties of manager of the entertainment in a capable manner. On Saturday the Mauriceville footballer's played a team of all-comers, and won by 19 points to 5. The headmaster of the Mauriceville School has received a leaflet from the District High School Board, in Timaru, in regard to of their school" and the methods of preventing contagion. The Mauriceville school children, assisted by their teacher, have always done in our township what Timaru has discovered lately. Still, it is a sign of advancement when any School Committee shows a desire of assisting instead of hindering the educational movement.
