CARRENO RECITAL.
To-night, Madame Teresa Carreno, the great pianist, who has come to New Zealand under the management of Herr Benno Scherek, will give a recital at the Masterton Town Hall. Madame Carreno is a great celebrity as a pianist, and in Europe her artistic standing is equal to the best that the world has produced during the past twenty years. Whilst Madame Carreno has especially distinguished herself by producing a tone twice as powerful as the male pianist of the same calibre, she has developed every side of the musical art, and she covers the whole range of pianoforte literature. She is equally magnificent in Beethoven and Chopin, and can rouse her audience to a pitch of enthusiasm with Liszt Rhapsody, as well as charming them with the exquisite delicacy of her interpretation of one of hirown simple waltzes.
