The Elgin Commiosion, appointed into enquire respecting the Scottish churches dispute, estimates the United Free Church funds at £1,354,720, and allotted £310,000 to the "Wee Frees," besides what was awarded before. It is estimated that the United Frees lost altogether half a million. The opinion is expressed in Scotland that the Commissioners have been lavishly generous to the Wee Frees. THE BELFAST POLICE. The discontented police have temporarily resumed, though the leaders threaten to call out ninety-five per cent, unless the men's grievances are redi'essed. MORE TROUBLE WITH JAPANESE. Received July 31, 10.20 p.m. VANCOUVER, July 31. Friction has arisen between the Japanese Consul and the authorities at Vancouver regarding the landing of a large number of Japanese from Honolulu. THE UNREST IN INDIA. Received July 31, 10.2 p.Yn. BOMBAY, July 31. Six of those implicated in the recent seditious riot at Lahore have been sentenced to eighteen months' imprisonment. Advice has been received here that the Russian ship Orient, bound from Geelong to South Africa, with a cargo of wheat, is ashore in a bad position on the South African coast, near East London.
