TINUI.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) TINUI, July 29. A meet of the Wairarapa Hunt Club was held here on the 27th inst., but was somewhat spoilt by the wet weather; also by the serious accident to Mr W. Moore which has al- - ready been reported. Most of the huntsmen rode in fancy dress, and caused much amusement. There were clowns, black gin, parson, policeman, "Sambo," town girl, and many other comical dresses worn. A wild scene of excitement was caused at the finish of the run by a horse that had broken away from the fence, dashing into the post office porch, and putting its hoof through the floor. The post-misti*ess, on hearing the crash, thought it was an earthquake and immediately made a "bolt" to the back door. The bachelors kindly provided afternoon tea in the Town Hall. The following took part in the run:—Messrs J. Shaw (huntsman) on Dainty; J. Douglas, on Robin; B. JReardon, on Jenny Linn; J. Collerton on Weary Bill (whips); R. Morrison (acting master), on Rata; J. O'Brien, on Gunmetal; J. Hudson, on Dolly; G. Fellingham, on Bones; G. G. Beard, on Moonlight; B. Collerton, on War Dog; E. Collerton, on Lady Flintlock; T. Crawford, on Timaru; W. G. Laing on Dick G. G; H. Millar, on Dashing Kate; A. A. Cameron, on Onaway; W. Moore onTui; G. Cox on Liberty; VV. H. Brooks, on Kangaroo. On the 27th inst. Mr Sydney Earee and Company held a concert here, but owing to the bad state of the weather, only a few were present. However, those that were able to attend thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment and every item was encored. The audience were delighted with the Company for carrying through their programme, and specially requested the Company to return again in November, when a full house would be assured. Messrs H. A. Neviiig-'and J. Wingate \viH_giys- a~lecture" on the 3rd Aagu3t"in the Town Hall. The subjects will be "Farmers' Union Conference," and "Early Settlements." As both speakers are well-known, and as the subjects are of an interesting nature, there should be a large attendance.
