.+ Since the commencement of the winter musical season much hi s been said and written concerning Madame Carreno, the celebrated pianist, who is visiting New Zealand, under the direction of Here Benno Scherek. Judging from the reports published in the Australian papers, Madame Carreno is something exceptional, ar.d this is said to have been demonstrated in an extraordinary fashion. When the lady who has been described by Hans von Bulow as "the most interesting pianist of the age," made her debut in Melbourne, there was a very large attendance at the Town Hall, and Madame was recalled time after time. Madame Carreno will give one recital at the Masterton Town Halt on Wednesday, August 7th.
