IN BANKRUPTCY.

ESTATE OF JOE GHONG LEE.

-The first meeting of creditors in 4he bankrupt estate of Joe Chong Lee, fruiterer, of Martinborough, was held in the Master ton Courthouse, yesterday, before Mr W. B. Chennells, D.O.A. The creditors repreI were Messrs Levin and Co., Brown and Co., and the Wellington Biscuit Company, Ltd. Mr J. W. Card appeared for the bankrupt. Bankrupt, on oath, stated that his .statement of' assets and liabilities was correct. His cousin, Joe Kwong JLee, had lent him £35 last year to start business in Martinborough. Bankrupt had not paid him back any ■of the money borrowed. Joe Chew's claim for £24 was for wages due and .Joe Shing Lee's account was for fruit bought from Wong Wah. The latter .had gone to China and bankrupt had borrowed the money from Joe Shing Lee to pay him. Bankrupt also ■Stated that he dissolved partnership with JCingi on March 13th last. He could not say whether his last partner had any money . Bankrupt had endeavoured to sell out before lilmg, but his bock debts had been a drawback. He did not drink or gamble, and had never sent more than £lO home to relatives in China. He had no interest in a business in Greytown, and could not make his creditors an oiler. After a brief discussion, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Suminerell, seconded by Mr Guthrie, to instruct th<3 D.O.A. to realise the estate, either privately or by public jauction, or tender, to the best advantage.
