MR JULIUS KNIGHT.

To-night, at the Town Hall, Mr Julius Knight, who is supported by a dramatic company of English and Australian artists, will make his reappearance here in "Raffles" (The ; Amateur Cracksman). The Wellington Times, speaking of this play, says:—"To the playgoer who is just out to enjoy himself, "Raffles" may be confidently recommended. The first act keeps up the expectation of the onlookers with its hints of coming sensations, on the introductory one of which the first curttain falls. The thickening plot is advanced in a second act that grows weak towards its close, and there follows an exceedingly powerful third act, made up of scenes of accumulating excitement, and culminating in one the unexpectednes" and novelty of which arouses great enthusiasm, amidst which the audience cheerfully overlook the fact that a stretch of imagination has been asked of them in the climax. Even now the interest is upheld, the concealment of the ultimate end is sustained. And so through a fourth act of dramatic scenes, to the surprise of the final one." To-morrow night "Brigadier Gerard" will be produced."
