LITERARY AND MUSICAL COMPETITIONS.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —In your report of the meeting re the proposed Literary and Musical Competitions, it seems that the Municipal Band is seeking the citizens assistance in their undertaking. This being so, I would draw the committee's attention to the claims of the Masterton South Brass Band, for public assistance. This band is now rehearsing twice a week, and has unavoidably incurred a big expense in securing new instruments, music, etc. Had the Municipal Band taken this in hand themselves, no other in--1 stitutions would, or could, have a say in the matter, but under the present circumstances I ventuz-e to draw the committee's attention to the above. — I am, etc., CITIZEN.
