STOCK MARKET.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report as follows:—At our fortnightly stock sale at Pahiatua, on Tuesday last, we had a fair average yarding in sheep, the quality of which, with one exception, was good and in consequence we had no difficulty in making a clearance at rates in advance of last sale, particularly in the case of good ewes in lamb, forward wethers and strong hoggets. No cattle were offered. AtMasterton, on Wednesday, r .we submitted a fair catalogue in both sheep and cattle. In sheep the entries were not first-class, consequently we have no big prices to record, although we cleared every line, rates for ewes in lamb and good hoggets being a slight improvement upon those of a fortnight back. The mutton penned was only medium. In cattle we yarded all classes, including some good quality but light beef, which found a ready market. Grown bullocKS did not reach owners' reserve. All young cattle and fresh young cows sold readily, backward heifers and old cows only failing to sell.
