Canterbury brands are quoted at 4|d per lb, and North Island mutton at 3jjd per lb. The lamb market is steady; the demand, however, is chiefly for light weight. Canterbury is quoted at s£d, and other than Canterbury at 5d per lb. The beef market is steady, 3gd and 3|d per lb being quoted for hind and fore quarters, respectively. The butter market is lifeless, except for very best quality. Choicest #ew Zealand is quoted at 995, and Danish at per cwt. There is no change in the price of cheese since last week. The hemp market is quiet but firm, at unchanged rates. The cocksfoot seed market is firm, a better demand has been experienced, and prices are rising. Bright clean New Zealand seed, 171b to the bushel, on spot, is quoted at 58s per cwt.
