CLAIM FOR DAMAGES.

By Tel graph—Press Association. GREYMOUTH, July 15. At the District Court, to-day, before Judge Haselden and a jury of four, the hearing was commenced of the claim for £SOO by Walter Scott and Catherine Scott for damages against Hugh Cassidy, coach proprietor, for the death of their infant child, caused by a coach accident on the Otira-Christchurch Road. The case for the plaintiff lasted all day. The evidence was in the direction of stating that the coach was not strong enough, several portions of the broken coach being produced in Court. It was stated it was "dozed" or had the dry rot. Davis, a former driver of Cassidy and Company, for 16 years, attributed the accident to unskilful driving. The case will be resumed at 10 o'clock to-morrow, and is likely to last the whole day.
