General Botha, replying to a deputation of miners, declined to legislate in favour of arbitration this year. He advised the mso to resume work. The deputation repudiated responsibility in the possible event of bloodshed, in view of the Cabinet's attitude. WHY KILFOIL'S HOTEL WAS BLOWN UP. Received July 15, 9.4 a.m. CAPETOWN, July 14. Until recently Kilfoil's Hotel at Boksburg had been the headquarters of the strikers, but shortly before the explosion a number of working miners were in the billiard room, and it is presumed that the explosion was directed against these.
