WINTER CUP. By Telegraph—Press Association. * 5 CHRISTCIIURCH, July 13. Maniapoto was scratched for the Winter C-.ip at 4 p.m. to-day. rangitike: facing club, spring meeting. The Spring Meeting of the Rangitikei Racing Club will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, September 18th and 19th. for which the Stewards have issued an attractive programme of fourteen events, with stakes totalling 1,100 sovs, 570 sovs being allocated to the first day and 540 sovs to the second day's races. The events include two steeplechases and one hurdle race each day. On the first day the Rangitikei Steeplechase, 150 sovs, is the principal event of the meeting, and the Clifton Steeplechase, 120 sovs, the best of the second day's events. In the flat races the Spring Handicap (first day) and the September Handicap (second day) are each allotted 110 sovs. The remaining events are all liberally endowed, the stakes ranging from 50 sovs to 70 sovs. Nominations will close with the Secretary, Mr H. A. Goodall, Bulls, on Saturday, August 24th next.
