MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
MEETING OF STEWARDS. The monthly meeting of the Stewards of the Masterton Racing Club on Saturday was attended by Messrs C. F. Vallance (chairman), J. Cress, A. Reside, J. Macara, C. A. Pownall, A. J. Welch, W. Cooper, D. McLachlan and D. Caselberg. The Wairarapa Racing Club advised that their delegates had been instructed to support the Masterton Club's motion at the Racing Conference to the effect that the fees obtained from gentlemen riders licenses should be returned to the clubs issuing the licenses. Mr C. C. Ramsden wrote on behalf of Mr A. H. Wrightson stating that after the recent heavy rains the newly laid drain pipes on the course had overflowed to the detriment of Mr Wrightson's property. He suggestad that an open drain should be cut right through the course to carry away the storm water. Mr Macara stated that the new drain would be found to be satisfactory, and the position would not be remedied by cutting an open drain. After the heavy rains mentioned, Mr Macara contended, any drain would overflow. It was decided to refer the matter to the uround Committee to meet 1 Messrs Wrightson and Ramsden and explain the position. Four new members were elected. Mr Pownall gave notice that he would move at the next meeting that the rules of the Club be so altered as to provide for a ballot for new members only when one of the Stewards demanded it.
