UNREST IN INDIA.
A CAMPAIGN OP SEDITION. LONDON, July 5. Reuter's Calcutta correspondent reports that disaffection exists among the Bengal peasants, landlords and aristocracy more than is supposed in England. The King's Birthday is almost unnoticed except among the Mohammedans. The report adds that a campaign of sedition is being conducted at Calcutta. Revolt against the law and the boycotting of British goods are everywhere preached and a social boycott is enforced against those ? maintaining relations with English officials. The Government is unable to prevent persecution of loyalists. Many Europeans have been assaulted and are compelled to carry arms, and railway carriages containing Europeans are nightly pelted with stones. An impression is current that many firearms are reaching Eastern Bengal. Europeans are demanding more police and troops, also sterner measures agianst a sedit ; ous organisation called the "National Volunteers," and against seditious orators and newspapers.'
