A SWINDLE EXPOSED.

The Daily Expr< :-?.s repeals a great swindle conduced by Mrs Elizabeth Home (who represented herself, to be a daughter of the Jate Bishop Cowie, of Auckland), Mrs Catherine Christie (aged 80 years) x and.a negro. It is alleged that they formed a syndicate and worked London and Paris for ytsars, with a project for developing 32,000 square miles of land in Madagascar supposed to carry timber, gold, precious stones' and gums. Tht project was conducted in the name .?f charity, and every investor was.sworn to secrecy. A solicitor's enquiries revealed that the IVranch Government gave an official ciir-snvowai of the concession.
BISHOP COWIE'S ONLY DAUGHTER.

.AUCKLAND, July 2. In connection with the cablegram received this'morning it is important to note that Bishop Cowie had only one daughter, who married Mr Marshall, a resident of. the Upper Waikato, and she is still living there. The woman referred to must have been merely a person posing as a daughter of the late Bishop Cowie.
