WELLINGTON LAND BOARD.

The Land Board met on Thursday. Present—The Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr John Strauchon. in the chair), Messrs A. Reese, J. Dawson, J. M. A'Court and C. J- Canton. The appointment of Mr John Canton as a member of the Board, and the re-appointment of Mr Joseph Dawson, was notified by the Commissioner. Mr Belliss attended on behalf ot Mrs M. A. Belliss, and stated that a new house had been erected on section 1, block 15, Mangapeka (Langdale Settlement). He was advised to make a written application for insurance money, which could be paid over on the ranger's certificate that a building of full value had been put up. TITLES. The conditions of the Act having been complied with, applications foi titles were approved in the following cases:—W. M. and W. J. Brogden. section 13, block 9, Ruahine; JWaterson, section 5, block 4, Waiohine; J. Ham, section 14, blocks 10 ' and 16, Makuri; J. McDonald, sections 16 and 27, block 10, Mount Cerberus; A. McDonald, section 13, block 9, Mount Cerberus. TRANSFERS. Applications for permission to transfer sub-leases were granted in the following cases: —H. L. Morrah to O. J. Petersen, section 43, block 7, Tararud (subject to declaration and proper forms being sent in); W. Archibald to A. Wheatley, sections 64 and 49, Pahiatua Village Settlement; J. Tanner to A. Newman, section 17, Horowher.ua Village Settlement; T. and S. Hitchccck to T. Hitchkock, section 11. block 4, Puketoi; M. and P. Godinagh to M. Godinagh, section 39, blocks 11 and 15, Mangaone; J. E. Cox, senr., to J. Meech, section 12, block 4. Tararua; E. J. Rose to H. A. Hayward, section 3, block 14, Oroua; M. J. Bell to E. Andrew, section 7, block 1, Ruahine; J. Avery to J. H. Eades, section 2, lot 1, Tutaekara Village Settlement. J. Anderson to G. A. Burling, junr., section 57, block 10. Kaitawa; J. Gleeson to Mrs Elizabeth Morgan, sections 46, 36 and 45, block 18, Mangahao. The following applications for transfer were agreed to suDject to the ranger's report being favourable: P. Brady, transfer of sections 15a and 17, block 4, Mount Cerberus, to J. D.' Gupwell; Mrs Helen E. Burling to E. Piikinton, section 4, block 10, Aohanga; Mrs M. Burling to C. R. Burling (application to subdivide and transfer*portion), section 4, block 1, Aohanga.

An application by E. A. Jensen to transfer section 7, block 1, Aohanga, to Miss S. Hitchcock, was approved., as also were applications by S. Sorensen to transfer section 11, block 2, Kairanga, to Mrs A. M. Thompson (subject to residence being complied with), and by R. Kenny to Mrs V. Buckley, sections 9a and 9c, block 15, Makuri (subject to the ranger confirming improvements affected). The following applications for permission to transfer were refused: F. D. McLean to J. and A. J. Norton, section 16, block 3, Mount Cerberus (one of the proposed transferees bell ing apparently not eligible as a selec- \ tor). A similar application by J. Cornfoot in reference to the transfer of section 1, block 5, Ruahine, to D. J. Munro and G. F. Bonner was approved, on Mr Munro's personal guarantee that he would reside in a bona fide manner. After consideration the Board agreed to renew its consent to the transfer ot section 9, block 7, Mount . Cerberus, from C. Transon to Mrs J. Ferrick. It was resolved to invite tenders lease for five years of Cemetery Reserve, 23a Block I, Makuri. on the usual conditions at a rental of £1 5s per annum, and to offer section 30, Block V., Apiti, for leasing in terms of the Public Reserves Act, 1881, on the usual conditions. The request of Mrs E. Williams to be allowed to surrender fa portion of section 14. Block IX., Huangarua, for a dairy factory site, was approved. It was resolved to offer a lease of the present site to the lessee of the adjoining section. C. Connor's request to have some additionaMand in the Noriaha Settlement allotted to him was not approved. Suggitt and Sons' application to lease part of the State forest near Kaitoke was referred to the Commissioner of State Forests. A. Hewitt's application to graze part, of the Rimutaka State Forest was declined. J. Bannister was granted permission to surrender a portion of section 2, Block VIII., Huangarua, for a school site. The schedule of Ranger's reports on'the eighty-five inspections showed thst seventy-five were complying and ten were defaulters.
