By Telegraph—Press Association.

AUCKLAND, June 24. ' Some members urged railway connection with Jtaranaki. and Gisborne, though there was a difference of opinion on this point. Upon the Tariff question a suggestion was made to establish at each centre a Board of Reference, with the Collector of Customs as Chairman, for the interpretation of 'the tariff.

Mr Massey predicted that next census would show that the population of Auckland was little short of one hundred thousand. The Suez mail was very a poor substitute for the' San Francisco service. Something better must be provided in the near future, Jle favoured a fast service, via Vancouver.
