NAPIER SUPREME COURT.
By Telegraph—Press Association. NAPIER, June 24. At the Supreme Court, to-day, the Grand Jury found true bills in all cases except that of D. C. Thorley charged with assault on a Maori. E. M. Tracy was found guilty of forgery and uttering and false pretences, sentence being deferred. A fine of £5 wts inflicted upon an bid settler for having set a spring gun in his orchard to prevent fruit stealing. It was the first case of the kind heard in the colony. Four youths pleaded guilty to camally knowing a female 14 years and 11 months old. All the accused were remanded for sentence. William Charles Williams, an old offender, was convicted on six different charges of false pretences and was sentenced to three years' imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to be concurrent. He was also diclared to be an habitual criminal.
