WEDDING.

GIDDINGS—WELCH. A wedding of considerable local interest was solemnised at St. Matthew's Church, yesterday afternoon, the contracting parties being Miss Edith Maud Mary Welch, eldest daughter of Mr J. Welch, of "Willow Park," Opaki, and Mr Samuel Harry Giddings, of Pahiatua, eldest son of Mr S. Giddings, of Wiltshire, England. The church -was crowded with relatives and friends, and the service was fully choral. Mrs P. Hunn presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked handsome in a pretty dress of white silk, trimmed with Paris lace and insertion, and frills of spotted net. She wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried a white prayer book, the gift of her mother. The bridesmaids were Miss Ivy Welch, sister of the bride, and Misses Ruby McLachlan and Madge Tait, cousins of the bride. Miss Ivy Welch wore a dainty dress of ordineal silk, trimmed with vallensemnes lace, and insertion. Miss McLachlan was attired in cream silk, trimmed with lace, and Miss Tait wore a pink silk dress, trimmed with lace and insertion. The bridesmaids each wore dark green velvet hats, trimmed with shaded green ostrich feathers, and carried shower bouquets of old gold chrysanthemums and ferns. Mr Edgar Ross, of Pahiatua, was best man, and Messrs S.lrving and K. Welch were groomsmen. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A. M. Johnson. As the newly-wedded the church the Wedding March was played by Mrs Hunn. Subsequently about one hundred persons sat down to the wedding breakfast at the Foresters' Hall. Congratulatory speeches were made, and ,a , number of toasts were honoured. The following is the toast list:— "The King," proposed by Rev. A. M. Johnson; "Bride and Bridegroom," proposed by Rev. A. M. Johnson —responded to by Mr S. H. Giddings; "The Bridesmaids," Mr S. H. Giddings—Mr E. Ross; "The Bride's Parents (Mr and Mrs J. Welch)," Mr E. Ross—Mr J. Welch; "The Bridegroom's Parents," Mr J. Welch—Messrs A. Giddings and J. Sturton; "Welch Family," Mr F. Redmond—Mr D. McLachlan; "Rev. A. M. Johnson." Mr D. McLachlan —Rev. A. M. Johnson; "Press," Mr D. McLachlan.

The bridegroom's present to the bride was a handsome gold wrist band, set with pearls. The bridegroom presented each of the bridesmaids with pretty gold pendants, set with pearls and sapphires. The bride's present to the bridegroom was a handsome gold sovereign case.

Mr and Mrs S. H. Giddings left by the afternoon train for Wanganui, where the honeymoon is to be spent, carrying with them the best wishes of a large circle of friends. The bride's travelling dress was a navy blue cloth costume, and she wore a white beaver hat. The presents received by the new'y-married couple were costly and numerous.'
