AFFAIRS IN 'FRISCO.

"GRAFT" AND ANTI-JAPANESE RIOTS. Received May 31, 8.47 a.,m. NEW YORK, May 3Q. The merchants, manufacturers, and property-owners of San Francisco have formed a committee of seventyfive to endeavour to remedy existing conditions and to check the forces of disorder, lest business confidence is lost.

A statement issued by the Japanese Association of San Francisno demands special police protection to prevent further trouble, possibly bloodshed.

It emphasises that the violence is largely the result of racial prejudices. Hooligans are insulting and attacking Japanese, while sparing others.
