POLICE AND POLITICAL PRISONERS. Received May 31, 9.30 p.m. ST. PETERSBURG, May 31. The Minister for Justice assured the Duma that neither the officials nor the police tortured political prisoners at Riga. He admitted that the police might have slightly struck prisoners with their fists. He reminded the Duma that the revolutionaries had killed and wounded a thousand police in the Baltic provinces.
