SERIOUS RISING IN CHINA.
GERMAN MISSION STATION DESTROYED. MANY OFFICIALS KILLED,. Received May 29, 8.55 a.m. PEKIN, May 28. Bandits destroyed the German mission station at Lieilchou-fu, in the province of Kwangtung. The local authorities saved the missionaries. German and British gunboats are proceeding to Pakhoi, the port of Lienchou-fu. There is a serious rising at Wongkong, forty-five miles south-east of Canton. Many Chinese officials have been killed, but Europeans have not been harmed. Chinese troops have been sant. REVOLT AGAINST TAXATION. Received May 29, 9.14 a.m. PEKIN, May 28. The rising at Wongkong is at- , tributed to taxation. There are 30,000 rebels in the vicinity of Swatow. JAPAN UNEASY. Received May 29, 9.20 a.m. TOKIO, May 28. The newspapers of Tokio are uneasy lest China's policy for the recovery of her national rights will create an anti-foreign mood defying Government control.
