IHURAUA VALLEY.

'(From Our Own Correspondent). t ~ s'The winter has settled down upon us iin this valley, bringing with it cold winds and rain, which means for us here dirty roads till the days of spring dry them again. The local creamery had to close down earlier this year than it has done formerly, on account of the slips which blocked the roads. The slips were brought down by the last heavy rain, which caused a record flood in this district. There has been, within the last twelve months, several land sales here. The new residents are having an early introduction to the mud.
