VALEDICTORY.

♦ PRESENTATION TO MR A. B. CHARTERS.

At the conclusion of the English and Arithmetic Class meeting, last evening, Mr A. B. Charters, who has acted as instructor to the class during the past three years, was presented by the Secretary of the Technical School (Mr N., D. Bunting), on behalf of the boys of the class, with a handsome case of pipes.

Mr Bunting, in making the presentation, referred to the kindly feeling always in evidence between the instructor and his classes at the Technical School, and also to the regret expressed by the Managers at losing the sei'vices of so able an instructor as Mr Charters had proved himself to be.

Mr Charters, in reply, sincerely thanked the class for their kind feelings expressed towards himself and stated that, although the work of the class had been carried on under great disadvantage through lack of adequate accommodation, he had now reason to hope that this state fo aaiffrs would speedily be remedied, and that under his successor, Mr C. N. Haslam, they would make still greater progress in the future.
