WHEAT MARKET.
Received May 20, 7.34 a.m. LONDON, May 19
The wheat market is very firm, in view of the increasing probability of short crops in both Europe and America. Some estimates place the American-Canadian crops 25,000,000 quarters below the 1906 yield, and the crops of Europe 20,000,000 quarters below last year's. Sales of ten cargoes of Australian wheat are reported, ranging from 33s to 33s 6d. AMERICAN PRICES SLUMP. Received May 20, 8.48 a.m. NEW YORK, May 19. The American wheat markets are rather active, but there is little excitement. Prices have slumped under the influence of favourable weather at home and abroad, and of heavy profit-taking.
