Received May 18, 12.7 a.m. SYDNEY. May. 17. M. A. Received May 18, 12.7 a.m. ADELAIDE, May 17. In* reference to Sir Wm. Lyne's remarks regarding frozen mutton, Mr Ralph, an exporter of Australian produce, says that Sir Wm. Lyne may have been comparing New Zealand mutton just imported with Australian that had been kept a long time in cold stores. Another aspect was that only an expert could 'pretend to compare the different classes of mutton and he was not aware that Sir Wm. Lyne had extensive knowledge on the subject. If Sir Wm. Lyne's remarks applied to lambs then the matter of great importance to South Australia was that New Zealand lambs as well as those of other countries looked much fresher on arrival than when kept for a period in cold store. He concludes: —"Our lamb-raisers need not be perturbed by the cable. They are quite able to hold their own on the London market."
