MARYLEBONE CRICKET CLUB'STOUR. By| t Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 16. At a meeting of the New Zealand Cricket Council, to-night, the report of the' sub-committee appointed to control the tour of the Marylebone Cricket Club's team stated that the first match played against Wellington < cduld alone be considered tb have been a financial success. The total guarantees received from the Council and affiliated associations amounted to £2,850, the net proceeds of the matches was £1,579 9s 9d and from, other ■ sources £99 7s, making ' the total receipts £4,519 17s Id, whilst the total expenditure upon 1 the tour amounted to £2619 19s Id. The financial result of the tour left a balance in.haM of £1899 10s, which the - recommended should be refunded to the guarantors in the proportion of their'reepective guaran-. tees. • The committee was of opinion that, although ' the visit of the team was not a, financial. success, it. would, be proved to have;Jjted'ia beneficial _ effect 'upon the ' /JsiSlslret of the colony. ■ The repoift 'was adopted, and a honorarium of £IOO voted to the Hon. Secretary of the Council (Mi* F. C. Raphpfl) r for his services, in tour.
