A REPLY TO UNION.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—l am prepared to bet Mr Union a new hat that' Mr "Hogg, M.H.R., is not game to refute the statement re hi.s apathy in jregard to bettering the condition of the; forking men, or to give a reasoh why he did • not attend the meeting referred to by Union. Mr Hogg is somewhat like the proverbial weasel —you will not catch him asleep, not if he knows it! Mr Hogg has been carried to victory pretty often on the back of the workmen's hofse,.'and he now apuarently thinks the horse belongs to himself, and that he can enter it. for any, race he chooses, to wit, the Squatters' Purse in preference to the Workers' Handicap.--I am, etc., ' ' A DREAMER. Masterton, May i4th, 1907.
