TEN YEARS' IMPRISONMENT. Received May IS, 10.22 a.m. PERTH, May 15. Ex-Corporal Tyler was sentenced to ten years' imprisonment for attempting to kill Captain Hare, the Commissioner of Police.
RETURN OF FUGITIVE OFFENDERS. Received May 15, 10.22 a.m. ADELAIDE, May 15. , A young man who had been arrested as a fugitive offender from Victoria was discharged by a Magistrate, who held that the Fugitive Offenders' Act did not apply to the States under the Federal Constitution, but only to distinct and separate British possessions. Major Long is favourably impressed witirthe quality of New Zealand meat and the processes adopted, and also with the careful system of inspection enforced by the government.
