LONDON MARKETS.

The Department of Industries and Coommerce has received the following cable from the High Commissioner, dated London, May. 11th:--The mutton market-is qui 3t, but rather steadier. There is a good local demand for light weights. The average price for Canterbury is 4d, and North Island 3|d. The lamb market is active, with a good demand. Canterbury brands are quoted at s£d, and others at 5Jd. The beef market is steady, and fair business is doing. Quotations are 3|d, and 3Jd for hind and forequarters, respectively. The butter market is steady, and there is a better demand for choice quality New Zealand at 995. Medium quality is in large supply at unchanged rates. Danish butter is quoted at 105s, and Siberan at 91s. The cocksfoot seed market is firm, and there are light stocks on hand. Buyers are offering more freely, and clean, bright, New Zealand seed, 171bs pej bushel, is quoted at 54a.
