RECEPTION AT EDINBURGH. I Received May 13, 7.40 a.m. LONDON', May 12. The Premiers had an enthusiastic reception at Edinburgh. They breakfasted with two hundred colonial University students, and addressed the members of the Australasian Club. The Premiers were made honorary burgesses of the city. Mr Deakin referred to the valuable elements which Scottish blood had contributed towards the making of an Australian nation. The Scots in Australia recognised that more than courtesy prompted the honour bestowed on the Premiers in giving them the Freedom of the City. Sir Joseph Ward said the remarkablble display of good feeling and hospitality extended to the Premiers would help greatly the bond between the Old and New Worlds. The Corporation • gave a luncheon to the Premiers, who all spoke. GtENERAL BOTHA. r Received May 13, 9.37 a.m. LONDON, May 12. j King Edward gave a special audience to General Botha, Premier of the Transvaal, on Saturday morning. Major-General Lord Methuen (who was captured by General Delarey in the Transvaal) and Mr Winston Churchill (Under-Secretary for the Colonies, who v(as also captured by the Boers and escaped) were present at Waterloo Station, where large crowds gathered to take farewell of General Botha. NurnDerless floral gifts were made to the Misses Botha. I General Botha sent a message to the people of Britain thanking them for the sympathy and kindness shown to him during his pleasant stay.
