ARBITRATION COURT.

The Arbitration Court awarded compensation at the rate of £1 weekly to Arthur Salt, an employee of the Kauri Timber Company, who lost his right arm when replacing a belt on a ■ pulley in respondents' timber mill, near Hokiahga. The hearing of the waterside-work-ers' application for an award is proceeding. The union's representative, in his opening statement, said the wages and conditions required by the men were practically those which had prevailed.for 27£ years, excepting the rate for overtime for coal workers.
