„ *< ■■ ■ ■- WOOL SALES. Received May 9, 11.6 a,m. LONDON, May 8. Wpol.—-There is a splendid sale. Prices of all aorts advanced. HIGH COMMISSIONER'SREPORT. The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following report from the High Commissioner, dated London, the Bth instant:— The mutton market is quiet, and there is no change to report in prices. The lamb market is firm. Light weights are quoted at lb for Canterbury, and other than Canterbury 43d per lb; heavy weights, Canterbury j5Jd uer lb, and other than Canterbury 5d per lb. There is a better demand for beef. Stocks of New Zealand beef on hand are light. Prices ruling are 3|d and 3jcl per lb for hinds and fores respectively. There is a "fair demand for better grades of butter. Choicest New Zealand is quoted at 97s per cwt, and Danish 102s per cwt. The cheese market is steady, with an improved demand at 62s per cwt. The hemp market is quiet, but firm. Good fair grade on spot is quoted at £33 10s per ton. MayJune shipments, £33 10s per ton. Fair grade, on spot, £3O per ton.
