By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 9. At the inquest, held to-night, concerning the death of Henry A. C. Fergusson, of Halswell, who died last night from injuries received as a result of a collision between the trap which he was driving and a traction engine standing by the side of the Halswell Road, evidence was given that the engine was drawn up close to the fence and out of the path of traffic, and lights were shown both fore and aft. The deceased and his groom, who was with him in the trap, visited the Halswell Hotel shortly before the accident, but the licensee refused to serve them for the reason that they were under the influence of liquor.
